Other Brew News

Just a few bits of brew news to close out this week’s beer buzz.  Jim Koch over at Samuel Adams announced they’ll begin canning this summer.

sam cans

Once upon a time, all the way back in 2004, Koch said “Beer shall be offered in bottles, not cans”. My how times have changed.  No worries.  I love cans and don’t mind seeing Sam Adams get in on the action.

A little closer to home, Odell has announced Tree Shaker Imperial Peach IPA.

tree shaker

Pinch me, because I must be dreaming.  Brewed with 2,000 lbs of pureed Colorado peaches, this is sure to be magical, wish granting unicorns in a bottle.  No word on a release date yet, but you know we’ll keep you posted on when you can expect 750 mL bottles to hit the shelves.

Colorado’s lady brewers are collaborating on a special brew to be released during Colorado Craft Beer Week in March.  Over at the Westword, Jonathan Shikes has all the details in his article about the Belgian Pale Ale they’ll be brewing up next week at the Wynkoop.

Lastly, Bill Eye’s here with his weekly terminology lesson.

Otherwise, that’s it for this round.  Have fun this weekend you little Younger freaks.

Cheers!

Another subtle Star Wars reference from Kjell this week.  I dig.  Bonus points from the nerds out there who know Tibanna and picked up on the carbonite reference.

No clue what’s going on right now?  You can go about your business.  Move along.  Move along. Rockyard Brewing is located at: 880 W Castleton Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80109. 303-814-9273.

463760_287529964702107_1655160133_o

This is led by two former brewers from Mountain Sun in Boulder, so look for plenty of big hop bombs and Belgian-influenced brews.  Can’t wait to give them a try.  Cannonball Creek Brewing is located at: 393 N Washington Ave, Golden, CO 80403.  720-427-8453.

Not enough for you?  Hall Brewing, a new brewery currently in the works in Parker, is having a tasting at Cornerstar Wine and Liquor in Aurora, from  2 PM – 6 PM on Saturday.  They’ll have their IPA, Stout and Red Ale to sample and bombers to-go.  This will be your first chance to try this new brewery, so don’t miss out.

Our friends on the radio will be back in the studio this weekend.  The Colorado Craft Beer Show will be on AM 760 at noon and will feature Bootstrap Brewing from Niwot, CO.  In the meantime, check out last week’s podcast from Vail’s Big Beers, where the guys had a chance to talk with everyone from Tomme Arthur of Lost Abbey to Chad Yakobson of Crooked Stave to Matt Brynildson of Firestone Walker and many more.  It was an awesome show.

Random Brew News

Lastly, I’ve got some real quick news clips to share before we wrap up this Weekend’s Beer Buzz.

Dry Dock fired up their new canning line earlier this week and pumped out a batch of Apricot Blonde.

205892_10151248794873742_118396022_n

Look for cans from this batch to hit local store shelves before the end of the month and a release party next weekend (details to come!).

Crooked Stave and Anchorage Brewing collaborated this week on a 100% Brett beer.

230737_463918370334628_2003607150_n

This was brewed at the Anchorage Brewery (yeah, all the way up in Alaska!) and will ferment in foeders until the beer says “Hey guys, I’m Ready!”.  No word on distribution plans yet.  Cross your fingers for some Colorado Love.

And to wrap up the week, how ’bout a round of applause for New Belgium Brewing on becoming 100% employee owned.  That’s such awesome news for this fun-loving Colorado brewery.  Cheers to that!

And if that wasn’t enough, New Belgium also announced “Lost in the Woods”, a party to kick off this year’s La Folie release.

lostinthewoods

This will be a unique chance for sour beer lovers to gather in the Foeder Forest for an evening with New Belgium’s sour experts Peter Bouckaert, Eric Salazar and Lauren Salazar.  There will be live music, food pairings and plenty of beer.  Tickets are on sale HERE for $25 and includes a bomber of beer to take home.  New Belgium is located at: 500 Linden St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.

That’s it for this week peeps.  It’s a great week to be a craft beer freak.  Especially a freak living in Colorado.

Cheers!

Weekend Beer Buzz: Denver Beer Fest Edition 10/05/12

You ready?  You better be.  Denver Beer Fest marches into town this weekend and won’t let go of your liver until the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) rolls out next weekend.  Wow, is GABF really next weekend!?!?  My favorite holiday of the year is almost here!

This is big folks.  BIG!  I’m not going to pepper you with small talk.  I mean business this week and I’ve got the events to back it up.  For reals.  Here we go!

Right Now

Crooked Stave has sorted through all their licenses and legalities and is back pouring their mind-blowing brews in the Tap Room.  Here’s their most current list:

Crooked Stave, you complete me.  Stop by and get funky in their Tap Room.  1441 W 46th Ave, Unit 19, Denver, CO 80211.

Friday, October 5th, 2012

Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock is at it again.  This time he’ll be tapping Denver Beer Co’s Pumpkin Beer, a brew he helped create.

Stop by Denver Beer Co. and help the Mayor kick off Denver Beer Fest.  Tapping is at 4:30 PM. Denver Beer Co. is located at: 1695 Platte St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-433-2739.

Killer beers are on at the Dock.  This week’s Firkin Friday at Dry Dock Brewing is a Sour Freaks wet-dream.

Boysenberry Sour!  Wow.  Ok, breathe, there’s a long way to go in this post yet.  But damn, Boysenberry Sour!  Well played Dry Dock.  I had the base beer, The Admiral, this afternoon at the brewery.

The Admiral Barrel-Aged Tart Ale is a tasty little brute and will hopefully still be flowing tomorrow during Firkin Friday.  It’s a dry, crisp, green apple, lip-smackin’ sour that’s too good for its’ own good.  Whatever that means…  Sounds very Right Said Fred, no?

I talked to Dry Dock’s Firkin Master, Walt Chleva, about this weeks creation and he said it’s gonna be a good’un that should pour a beautiful purple color with plenty of fruit and funk for CO’s Sour Freaks.  People, don’t miss this!.  I’ll be there for some mouth puckering deliciousness on Friday at 3 PM.  Dry Dock Brewing is located at: 15120 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.  303-400-5606.

Jellyman’s back to his crafty ways down at the Rockyard in Castle Rock.  This week’s Deviation is a French Oak-Aged Dopplebock with Raspberries.

Grab a snifter of this 10% ABV one-off, starting at 4PM on Friday afternoon.  Rockyard Brewing is located at: 880 W Castleton Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80109. 303-814-9273.

Saturday, October 6th, 2012

Gary V. and American Craft Beer Radio will be on location this week, live from Oktoberfest at Libations Wine & Spirits.  $20 in advance, $25 at the door gets you live music, beer, wine, food, prizes and more.  ALL money goes to charity!

Dry Dock Brewing, Odell Brewing, Leopold Bros. and more will be on hand and American Craft Beer Radio will be broadcasting LIVE!  Even if you can’t make it, flip over to 102.3 FM ESPN Radio and listen to Gary V. and his guests talk about all that is Craft Beer.

I’m going to try, I promise I’ll try!, to make it over there in time for the show.  Gary’s invited me as a guest on the show again this week to share some of the events hitting Denver leading up to GABF. Fingers crossed that I can make it there in time to share all the deets on the air.  Radio is fun and radio with beer is simply brilliant. Libations Wine & Spirits is located at: 16530 E Arapahoe Rd, Unit 102, Foxfield, CO 80016. American Craft Beer Radio airs at noon on 102.3 FM ESPN Radio.

The boys on the Colorado Craft Beer Show will be hanging out at Strange Brewing in Denver for this week’s show.

They’ve got a variety of brewers sitting in with them from some of the area’s exciting, new breweries.  Look for Lone Tree, Wit’s End, Caution, Renegade and others to sit in with the guys and talk beer during the 2-hour broadcast.  Flip over to AM760 from noon – 2 PM or get off your couch and head over to listen live and join in the fun.  Have a delicious Cherry Kriek while you’re at it and keep your ears open for a chance to win a pair of tickets to GABF.  Strange Brewing is located at: 1330 Zuni St, Unit M, Denver, CO 80204.

Twisted Pine Brewing is releasing the newest brew in their Artisan Ale Series on Saturday.  This time it’s Lupuliopheliac, a 52 IBU, fresh hopped Pale Ale, made with wet Cascade hops from nearby Niwot, CO.

Stop by on Saturday to meet Darren Hall and Phil Bartell, the tattoo artists behind the label and get your 750mL bottles signed.  The party runs from noon – 9 PM.  Twisted Pine Brewing is located at: 3201 Walnut Street, Suite A, Boulder, CO 80301.  303-786-9270.

Sunday, October 7th, 2012

Falling Rock Tap House is gearing up for this year’s Fresh Hop Celebration.

This event is entering its’ 6th year and features a variety of unique and fun beers that were all brewed with fresh, wet hops.  Look for a great list of breweries to pour including Deschutes, Sierra Nevada, Crazy Mountain, Full Sail, Wynkoop, Great Divide, Ska and more.  Tickets are $25, which covers unlimited tasting and a commemorative glass.  The Falling Rock Tap House is located at: 1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-293-8338.

Hops & Pie is teaming up with Great Divide for the next Littlest Big Beer Fest.  Starting at 2PM, you’ll be able to try beers like 2008 Old Ruffian, Espresso Oak Aged Yeti and the brand new Fresh Hop Pale Ale.

Hops & Pie is located at 3920 Tennyson St., Denver CO, 80212.  303-477-7000.

Avery Brewing.  Odio Equum.  I can’t pronounce it, which can only mean one thing, another release in their Barrel Aged Series!  Number 13 to be exact.  Last week’s shenanigans’ on American Craft Beer Radio with Dustin Lemoine from Avery Brewing revealed that Odio Equum translates to something along the lines of “I hate horses”.  Glue jokes ensued and it was just downhill from there…

I’m not impressed by the ancient Latin language, but I’m very impressed by Avery’s Barrel-Aged Series of beers.  This one is brewed with raspberries and aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, with just about every funky, wild yeast you can think of.  It weighs in at 7.89% ABV and will sell for $8 / 12oz. bottle / 12 bottle limit at the brewery on Sunday at 4PM.  Bring cash just to be safe as their credit card sales seem to be hit-or-miss.

Sadly, this date doesn’t work with my calendar.  Anybody that’s going and willing to mule back a few beers for me will be paid for their troubles and rewarded with, what else.. BEER!  E-mail me at: brewtallyinsane@yahoo.com and let’s talk.  Avery Brewing is located at: 5763 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80303.

Monday, October 8th, 2012

At 5PM, the countdown clock at Falling Rock, will reach 000:00:00:000.  What does that mean? GABF is here!  Chris Black always brings out special kegs to share when the clock runs out and this year he’s got 10 special beers ready to share.

Chris likes to keep a lid on what he’ll be pouring, so who knows, but I’m sure it’ll be awesome and probably won’t last very long.  The Falling Rock Tap House is located at: 1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-293-8338.

Wynkoop, boy do they have balls for brewing their Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout.  What started out as an April Fool’s Joke has become disturbingly real.

Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout will debut on Monday at 5PM at the brewery, and yes, BPB actually means “Balls Per Barrel”.  I know I should be turned off by this, but strangely, I’ve just gotta try it.  I hear it’ll be pouring at the Wynkoop booth during GABF, so I’ll be looking for a way to get my unsuspecting wife or my slightly buzzed friends to try it before I get my very own shake at it.  It’s just too easy to get an unsuspecting friend to drink this and I’m always up for a good laugh.

Hey, Cheers to Wynkoop for taking some “bigger” chances lately.  It’s a tough biz, but they’re keeping pace.  If you’re looking to try some beer with balls, from the nuts at Wynkoop, then head over for the tapping on Monday afternoon.  Wynkoop Brewing is located at: 1634 18th St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-297-2700.

Beer hunters, hoarders, collectors and connoisseurs should make a visit to Davidsons Liquors on Monday, when their resident beer geek’s bring out some gems from the cellar to sell.  They’ve been holding these cellar sales right around GABF for the past few years and I always seem to find something I can’t live without.

You never know what you’ll find at one of their sales, but look for some FiftyFifty Eclipse, Dogfish Head, vintage Avery and interesting Deschutes brews to highlight this year’s GABF cellar clean out sale.  The doors open at 8 AM.  Good luck!  Davidsons Liquors is located at: 5555 Boatworks Dr, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.  303-224-0444.

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Yeah, it’s Beer WEEK folks, which means were still kicking ass into Tuesday.  Renegade is releasing bombers of Elevated Wood on Tuesday.  They’ve taken their super-charged, triple IPA and banished that puppy to a bourbon barrel for 6-months.

That beast has been bottled and will be yours for the buying on Tuesday at 6PM.  Don’t miss out on this limited, hand-numbered release.  Renegade will be pouring other special beers in the tap room exclusively for the release party.  Renegade Brewing is located at: 925 W 9th Ave, Denver, CO 80204. 720-401-4089.

And I might have saved the best for last with this one.  You be the judge.  Head over to Falling Rock Tap House to get your glass of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout (BCBS) on Tuesday at 5 PM.

BCBS is a barrel-aged, jet-black, thick, chewy, roasty, bad-ass of a stout, that always seems to find its’ way onto the list of the Top Beers in the World.  It’s sitting pretty at #50 right now.  I hear the even higher ranked, #12 to be exact, Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout will also be making an appearance, along with gems like Lolita (the spontaneously fermented, barrel-aged raspberry tart), Madame Rose (the barrel aged, brett beer made with Michigan cherries) and Juliet (the oh so tasty, barrel-aged blackberry sour).  Screw the lists and come down and judge for yourself.

To say this is BIG, would be an understatement.  Grab your calendar, circle it and circle it again. These will not last long and you won’t want to be the one stuck looking at a tap handle like this!

The Falling Rock Tap House is located at: 1919 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-293-8338.

That’s it peeps.  You got a big week coming your way.  If you come across events you’d like to share, e-mail me at brewtallyinsane@yahoo.com.  I’m also going to share a few things exclusively on Facebook, so “Like” us over there and keep an eye on us through twitter @BrewtallyInsane.

Get ready, have fun and be safe!

Cheers!

Weekend Beer Buzz 08/09/2012

After spending nearly two weeks visiting family and friends back on the east coast, I’m back home and ready to give you a full dose of your weekend beer news.  To tell you the truth, it’s a little quiet this week, but there’s still several great events to talk about.

Just talked to Jellyman down at the Rockyard.  So, last Friday’s scheduled Deviation, which was a French Oak Aged Belgian Triple, will in fact be tapped THIS Friday instead.

He’s calling it “Monk With A Woody” and describes it as “fruity and tart, with a strong oak presence”. Rockyard Brewing is located at: 880 Castleton Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80109.

Happy Birthday to the Denver Beer Co!  They’re celebrating their 1st Anniversary by closing the street and hosting a huge bash on Saturday, August 11th from 2 – 9 PM.

Look for a dozen beers to be on tap, including a limited run of Imperial Graham Cracker Porter.  Some of Denver’s top food trucks will be out as well, including The Uber Sausage and Basic Kneads Pizza.  Hang out and listen to some live, local music too.  Best of all, it’s FREE!  Just show up, hang out, celebrate, ride your bike or grab a cab.  Should be a great time.  Denver Beer Co. is located at: 1695 Platte St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-433-2739.

Loveland Aleworks will have their Grand Opening this weekend.  They’ve been open for about a month and have been very well received.

They’ve got 8 beers ready for you, including an IPA, Saison and an Imperial Stout that will be tapped for the first time this weekend.  They plan to keep 10 beers on tap once they’re able to fill all the tap lines.  Dave, over at Fermentedly Challenged was able to get a look inside the brewery and tasting room before their opening.  Check out his post HERE.  Loveland Aleworks is located at: 118 W 4th St, Loveland, CO 80537.  970-619-8726.

Over in Aurora, Dry Dock Brewing will be hosting their 1st Annual PIE-A-PALOOZA on Sunday, August 12th!  This is something new on the calendar this year, but if it’s anything like their Chili Cook-Off, it’ll be a great time.  This is set up as a pie competition, with four categories: Berry, Creamy, Fruit and Savory / Nut.  Competitors will get to choose a Dry Dock beer to pair their pie with.  Judging will be held in the barrel room at 12:30 PM and winners will be announced at 2 PM.  E-mail: Pies@DryDockBrewing.com to get your pie entered.

If I were any sort of baker, I’d be all over this.  If you’ve got some cooking skills, then be sure to give it a shot.  Dry Dock Brewing is located at: 15120 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.  303-400-5606.

The Bull & Bush Brewery is turning 41 this summer!  That’s insane!  I LOVE IT!  Cheers guys!

To commemorate this glorious occasion, they’re hosting “41 Beers in 41 Days”.  They’ll be releasing a new beer every day for 41 days and the full schedule can be found HERE.  They make some amazing beers and I’m drooling at some of the beers scheduled to be tapped.  From their own Legend of the Liquid Brain to guest kegs like J.W. Lees Harvest Ale, you can’t go wrong!  Cruise in and raise a celebratory pint.  Bull & Bush Brewery is located at: 4700 Cherry Creek South, Denver, CO 80246.  303-759-0092.

Lastly, just a sneak peek into next week.  The Royal Hilltop in Aurora will be tapping a keg of Pliny the Elder.  This is one of the best, if not THE best IPA on the planet.  I love this beer and I’m pretty excited to see it getting tapped so close to mi casa.

The lupulins will be flowing on Tuesday, August 14th at 7 PM.  Sadly, I can’t make it, but you fellow hop freaks better save me some!  I’ll be stopping by on Wednesday and I hope there’s a snifter or three left for me.  The Royal Hilltop is located at: 18581 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO 80013.

That’s it ladies and gents!  Enjoy your weekend!

Cheers!

Weekend Beer Buzz 07/26/2012

It’s that time again and I’ve got some great events to share with you.  This weekend will be delicious!  Guaranteed!  We’ve been having a little fun this week, with some “on-location” blogging.

This week we’re coming to you all the way from upstate New York!  Today we sat at beautiful Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY, as they prepped for their annual Belgium Comes To Cooperstown Beer Festival.

Yeah, it’s a brewtal life…

But, we still managed to get your weekly news together for you.  Start your weekend down in Castle Rock, CO at Rockyard Brewing. Friday’s at 4 PM is reserved for the Jellyman’s Deviations, which gives brewer Kjell aka Jellyman, a chance to get crazy and creative with some special one-off batches of beer.

This week he’s releasing “Smokey Treat”, a hand smoked Vienna malt ale.  Jellyman describes this as low hops, mid smokiness, with an acidic twang.  Rockyard Brewing is located at: 880 Castleton Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80109.  303-814-9273.

There’s one event this weekend that you MUST attend.  Get your tail over to Parry’s Pizza in Highlands Ranch, CO for the Dogfish Head Event on Saturday, July 28th.

This is the very definition of “BREWtally Insane”!  When’s the last time you saw 4 or 5 Dogfish beers on tap?  You’re still scratching your head aren’t you?!?  Well, Parry’s is bringing you 16!!!  Six-freakin’-teen taps of Dogfish gloriousness!  90 min? mmhmm.  120 min? check.  How about Noble Rot, Festina Peche, Burton Baton, Red and White, Aprihop? Yep, all those too!  Did I mention Midas Touch, Sah’tea, Saison du BUFF, Namaste, Ta Henket and more!

This is big peeps.  BIG!  David Parry has been saving, stock piling, collecting, begging for and hoarding all these kegs for the past few months and now he’s ready to share them this weekend.  The food is great, the beer is great, the staff is great.  Get to Parry’s and be great too.  Parry’s Pizza is located at: 9567 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. 303-683-0600.

A few weeks ago, I joined up with American Craft Beer Radio with a little contest to give away a pair of tickets to Kyle’s Brew Fest over at Boulder Beer Co.  One of our readers will be hitting this up and enjoying the sunshine on Saturday.  Kyle Hollingsworth from the String Cheese Incident hosts this event, which is now entering its’ third year.

The $25 ticket includes a pint glass, access to 60+ beers from 30+ breweries, live music, food and more.

I also hear that American Craft Beer Radio will be broadcasting live from the event at noon.  Tune into the show on 102.3 FM and see what’s going on in the world of beer.

Boulder Beer Co. is located at: 2880 Wilderness Place, Boulder, CO 80301. 3003-444-8448.

Turk and The Gubna will be broadcasting live from Arvada Beer on Saturday, July 28th at noon.

Arvada Beer recently tapped a Belgian Golden Strong Ale called Mannekin Pis, yep, named after the little pee boy statue in Belgium.  The beer was brewed for their neighbors, Mannekin Frites, the frite masters who are celebrating their 1-year anniversary. Stop by for the live show, grab some delicious grub from Mannekin Frites and enjoy Arvada Beer.  Arvada is a great little town and a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  Arvada Beer is located at: 5600 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002. 303-467-2337.

Over in Parker, CO, Elk Mountain Brewing is turning 2!  Stop by the brewery on Saturday, July 28th and help them celebrate with a free BBQ, live music, special tappings and give-aways throughout the day.  The party starts at noon and runs all day.

Elk Mountain Brewing is located at: 18921 E Plaza Dr, Parker, CO 80134. 303-805-2739.

Denver Beer Co. is teaming up with Maple Street Pie Company on Saturday, July 28th for a Pies and Pints Festival.  Tickets ($10 at the door) will get you three pie and beer tasters.  The pairings are: Key Lime Pie & Kaffir Lime Wheat; Apricot Peach Pie & Tart Apricot Ale; Mexican Chocolate Pie & Chili Stout.

The fun runs from 1 – 5 PM, with a pie eating contest at 3 PM. Denver Beer Co. is located at: 1695 Platte St, Denver, CO 80202. 303-433-2739.

Hope you can find something to feed your inner beer monster this weekend (like Parry’s Dogfish Event).  Because we live in a town full of great beer happenings and there’s always something worth checking out (like Parry’s Dogfish Event).  With new beers hitting the market and tappings all the time, you’re sure to find something that’s right up your alley (like Parry’s Dogfish Event).  No, I don’t work for Parry’s… I’m just trying to steer you towards beer bliss.  Honestly, there’s a lot of great events this weekend (like Parry’s Dogfish Event) and you’ve got plenty of great ones to pick from (like Parry’s Dogfish Event).  Get out there (to Parry’s), have fun, get a designated driver or taxi and tip your servers.

In the meantime, I’m going to kick back and take in the view from here.  Aaaaah, time for another…

Cheers!

Weekend Beer Buzz 07/12/12

Another full weekend lies ahead.  You ready?

Friday the 13th got you freaked out?  Grab your ugliest Christmas sweater and head over to the Denver Beer Co. for Christmas in July!  At 1 PM, they’ll be tapping a special “Christmas-spiced” firkin.  Stick around for music, food and a special appearance by Mr. Claus himself.  The fun runs until 5 PM and is sure to chase those Friday the 13th blues away.

Don’t forget Firkin Friday over at Dry Dock Brewing in Aurora, CO.  This week’s release is a Black Cherry Saison.  Sounds delish.  I made it out last week for the Kona Coffee Milk Stout, which was really, really tasty.  It was like sipping a nice, iced coffee.  Another great creation by their Firkin Freak Walt.

Anyway, head over to the Dock at 3 PM on Friday, July 13th to give the Black Cherry Saison a try or two or three…  Dry Dock Brewing is located at: 15120 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.  303-400-5606.

Parry’s Pizza in Highlands Ranch, CO is gearing up for another Tap Takeover on Saturday, July 14th. This time they’re joining forces with New Belgium Brewing to bring fans a slew of tasty brews, many of which haven’t been available in months.  Look for a variety of beers from the Lips Of Faith series, including Tart Lychee, Cocoa Mole, Biere de Mars, Fall Wild, La Folie, Brett Beer (collaboration w/ Lost Abbey.  Read further down on how to win a bottle.) and more!

This ain’t your local Old Chicago!  Parry’s Pizza combines great food with one of the best tap lists in the Denver area.   If you’re able to make it over to Parry’s in the near future, try to bring some items to donate, as they’re collecting a variety of goods for victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire.  More details and a list of items you can donate, can be found on the Parry’s Pizza Facebook Page.  Parry’s Pizza is located at: 9567 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.  303-683-0600.

If you’re able to visit Parry’s between noon and 2 PM on Saturday, you’ll be able to hang with Turk and The Gubna from the Colorado Craft Beer Show.  The guys will be broadcasting live from the event on AM 760.

Over on the FM side, American Craft Beer Radio will be broadcasting live from the Colorado Brewers Rendezvous down in Salida, CO on Saturday, July 14th.

Gary V will be hitting the airwaves on 104.3 FM at noon in Riverside Park in Salida, CO.  The Colorado Brewers Rendezvous will feature more than 60 Colorado breweries and runs from 1 PM – 5 PM. Tickets are $35 and covers beer samples, local music and root beer for the kids and DD’s.  I really wanted to attend this year, but it wasn’t meant to be.  Looks like it’ll be a blast though!  Have fun guys!

Twisted Pine Brewing, in Boulder, CO, is gearing up for their 17th Anniversary Party on Saturday, July 14th.

Plenty of great food, music and of course, tasty beers, will be there for you to enjoy from 2 PM – 7 PM. Tickets are only $25.  Congrats on 17 years!  Twisted Pine Brewing is located at: 3201 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80301.  303-786-9270.

And yet ANOTHER Beer Festival is lined up for this weekend up in Breckenridge, CO.  That’s 3 this weekend, for those of you keeping score at home.  Main Street Station will be hosting the Breckenridge Summer Beer Festival on Saturday, July 14th from 1 PM – 6 PM.

25 Breweries will be pouring this year, including several out-of-state breweries such as Alaskan, Stone and Boulevard.  Of course, a variety of great breweries from CO will be on hand as well. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.  Click here for more info.

Here at Brewtally Insane, we hit the Spring Breceknridge Beer Festival and it was an absolute blast! There’s a review and a ton of pics HERE.  You’re probably not going to find any crazy, rare, sour, barrel-aged brews at this one, but you’ll definitely be treated to a solid lineup from quite a few of your favorite breweries.

Sour Month rolls on at the Rackhouse Pub.  Scheduled to be tapped this weekend is Avery – Immitis, Crooked Stave – Petite Sour and AC Golden – Dry Hopped Sour.  Looking towards next week, the tap lines will see New Belgium – Tart Lychee, Great Divide – Bretty Yeti and more!

The Rackhouse Pub is located at: 208 S Kalamath St, Denver, CO 80223.  720-507-7824.

While we’re talking sours, on Saturday, July 14th, AC Golden will be releasing Kriek, the latest installment in their Hidden Barrel Collection.  This is being sold exclusively through Mile High Wine and Spirits in Lakewood, CO.

Sales will begin at the store and over the phone at 3 PM, with a 1-bottle limit.  If you can make it to the store, an AC Golden rep will be on-hand to answer questions and pour samples.  I fought my way through the phone lines for the Apricot and Peche release a few weeks ago.  These beers are delish and worth checking out.  Mile High Wine and Spirits is located at: 435 S Vance St, Lakewood, CO 80226.  303-936-0272.

Lastly, the Brewtally Insane Facebook Page is nearing 100 “likes”.  I’ve got a special New Belgium Lips of Faith & globe glass combo giveaway for that lucky 100th person.

So if you haven’t already done so, head over there and “Like” us today!  Win free beer, while staying up to date on the latest happenings in the beer world.  Win, Win!

Have a great weekend!

Cheers!

Weekend Beer Buzz 05/23/2012

Sorry for the lengthy delay in posts.  I haven’t even had a chance to hit the latest news on the Facebook page…  I caught some sort of funk and it’s been a rough week.  I’m finally starting to feel better and just in time for your weekend beer buzz update!

Hope you were able to get out and enjoy Craft Beer Week.  I wrapped things up by attending the inaugural Taste of Tipsy’s beer festival.  Great event, despite the cool, wet weather.  Saw a lot of good friends and fellow beer geeks and got to try some awesome beers.  I’ll post some pics at the end if you’d like to see more.

Later that night, I had the opportunity to have dinner at Parry’s Pizza and attend the Odell’s Tap Takeover.  Man, they make some great food over there and the beer was obviously awesome!  Great event guys!  Looking forward to the next one.

Still looking for an Odell fix?  Then head up to Fort Collins on Saturday, May 26th for the annual Odell Small Batch Festival.  This is a great chance to try some of their unique and tasty one-offs like Wooden Elephant Oak Aged IPA and Footloose Golden Sour.  The party runs from 3 PM – 7 PM and beers costs $4 / each.  Click HERE for a beer list and all the details.

Grimm Brothers is going to be hosting their Maifest on Saturday, May 26th at noon.  This is a family friendly event that will feature the release of Little Farmer Maibock.  They’ll have food, music and games for the kids.  Grimm Brothers is located at: 632 N Denver Ave, Loveland, CO 80537.  970-624-6045.

Copper Kettle Brewing is set to release this year’s batch of Summer Ale on Saturday, May 26th.  This light, refreshing Wit is brewed with coriander and orange peel.  The tapping begins at noon, followed by a visit by the Uber Sausage food truck and live music at 5 PM.  Copper Kettle Brewing is located at: 1338 S Valentia St #100, Denver, CO 80247.   720-443-CKBC.

The Denver Beer Company always seems to have something interesting on tap.  This week’s lineup is no exception.  They’ve got their delicious Graham Cracker Porter back on tap, along with Kaffir Lime Wheat, Misseur Flaneur Saison, Holy Cow Milk Stout, Centennial DIPA and more!  They’re also in the process of brewing a Raspberry Kolsch.  Sounds awesome for those upcoming warm days of summer.  Denver Beer Company is located at: 1695 Platte St, Denver, CO 80202.  303-433-2739.  Here’s the latest list:

And don’t forget about Dry Dock’s Firkin Friday release.  On Friday, May 25th, they’ll be pouring a Dry-Hopped Red.  As usual, the beer begins flowing at 3 PM.  Dry Dock is located at: 15120 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.  303-400-5606.

Need to get your beer fix before the weekend?  Then swing over to Lowry Beer Garden on the east side of Denver.  Think traditional, open-air beer garden, tucked away in Denver, CO!  They’ll have 16 craft beer taps and 30 bottles, featuring local breweries like Copper Kettle, Odell and Oskar Blues.  They’ll also be offering a variety of food, including brats, burgers, salads and pretzels.

Lowry’s Beer List

Lowry is family friendly, so feel free to bring the little ones.  Make an afternoon of it and visit the Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum next door.  Their official opening day is at 4 PM on Wednesday, May 23rd, but will be open every day from 11 AM – midnight.  Lowry Beer Garden is located at: 7577 E Academy Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.  303-366-0114.

And just in case you want some great beer, but don’t want to go far from home, keep an eye out for Elevation’s Apis IV.  Elevation Beer Company just opened their doors last weekend in Poncha Springs, CO.  Their first bottled release, Apis IV, is a Belgian Quad brewed with honey that is making its’ way into the Denver market.  A few local stores got bottles this week and many more should be getting cases over the next few days.  At about $10 / 750mL, you really can’t go wrong.  I’ll be grabbing one for sure.  I hear a barrel aged version will also be coming out shortly.  I’m really excited about Elevation and can’t wait to try their beers.

That’s it for now.  Follow the Facebook page to stay up to date throughout the weekend.  Oh, and here’s some pics from the Taste of Tipsy’s event last weekend.  Cheers!
